Which rowing machines are compatible with asensei?

The asensei app has been designed to work with bluetooth capable rowing machines from Concept 2, WaterRower, FluidRowers from First Degree Fitness and we are also compatible with a limited number of Life Fitness rowing machine models.  NEW in Dec 2024, asensei rowing now supports Rogue Echo Rowers, so long as you are on the very latest asensei rowing app release (1.20.3 or higher)

asensei + Concept 2 RowErg

The asensei app is compatible with the Concept 2 RowErg rowing machine with a PM5 monitor (as shown in the image below).  The PM5 is the only performance monitor from Concept 2 to support bluetooth connectivity but this is standard on all recent RowErg, model D and model E rowing machines and can also be retrofitted to any Concept 2 model. 

Note, If you are using an Oartec rowing machine such as the DX it is possible to retrofit a Concept 2 PM5 to your machine and then connect it to asensei.

asensei + WaterRower 

The asensei rowing app is compatible with WaterRowers.  Your WaterRower must have an S4 monitor and the bluetooth ComModule (sold separately).  For more information on how to connect and use the asensei app with the WaterRower see: Connecting asensei to a WaterRower

asensei + WaterRower SmartRow/Performance Ergometer

Note that the asensei rowing app will not currently connect to the WaterRower SmartRow (also known as the WaterRower performance ergometer). 

The SmartRow system requires two mobile devices (phones or tablets) in order to connect to 3rd party apps such as asensei, with the first one connecting directly to the SmartRow via Bluetooth, running the SmartRow app which then rebroadcasts to the second device, running the 3rd party app (asensei does not currently support this configuration or the SmartRow performance ergometer).  

asensei + Rogue Echo Rower

Dec 2024 sees asensei bring support for the new Rogue Echo Rowing machine (requires app build 1.20.3).  Renowned for their Crossfit gear, Rogue have created this robust rowing machine gathering great reviews and it looks set to prove popular amongst the Crossfit community - already being the The Official Rower of CrossFit & the CrossFit Games.

To connect, start your workout in the asensei app, when you get to the connection screen turn on the Rogue Echo rower, select CONNECT and press the SELECT button.  The asensei rowing app should find the Rogue Echo rower, connect automatically, then proceed to the remainder of the workout.  For more information see this article: asensei rowing is now compatible with the Rogue Echo Rower!

asensei + FluidRower  

Another new rowing machine compatible with asensei is the FluidRower with a Bluetooth console.  Made by First Degree Fitness these rowing machines have a variety of different model names.  You should lookout for the Bluetooth symbol at the bottom of the console, as shown in the image below.  For more information on how to connect and use the asensei app with the FluidRower see: Connecting First Degree Fitness Rowing Machines to asensei

 

asensei + Life Fitness Rowing Machines NEW!

asensei is compatible with the Life Fitness Row HX models.  There are two variants of this machine, the HXL (light coloured) and Row HXD (dark colored) and the console should look like the one shown in the image below.

asensei is not currently compatible with other Life Fitness Rowing Machine models, just the Row HX series, but if you would like us to support your model please let us know so we can prioritize our development.
