It's important that you find the right fit for your (app)arel, so that the embedded sensors are positioned where asensei expects them.
If you're familiar wearing yoga or sports compression apparel, you'll understand the fit that we're looking for ... it should be form-fitting and move easily with you. Typically for men, you'll choose to wear this as a base layer under shorts and shirt. For women, you'll more often than not choose to wear the pants like yoga pants, and may or may not choose to wear a shirt over the asensei shirt (which is long sleeved).
When placing your order, please measure yourself as guided below and choose the size from the size chart. If you are borderline between two sizes, choose the smaller size as asensei (app)arel requires a comfortable, tight fit to ensure the sensors move with the body.
After you have placed your order, the asensei team will reach out to confirm your measurements and make recommendations, especially where you feel you may be between sizes. The section below details how to take the appropriate measurements.
Taking Your Body Measurements for (App)arel
When we reach out to you after you have ordered to check your sizes we will need the measurements listed below.
It is critical that you get a good fit with the (app)arel so getting your measurements right is important. The (app)arel has embedded sensors that track your body movement. The sensors need to be held tight to your body, ideally not moving about in relation to the body part they are placed on. If the (app)arel is not tight fitting then asensei won't be able to track your movement accurately and therefore will not be able to coach you as well as you would like.
asensei (app)arel is made to order. If you get the wrong size there will be a delay while it is returned and new (app)arel ordered. We want you to get the most out of your asensei subscription so please do take care to measure accurately. If you are concerned at all or have any questions please reach out to support@asensei.com for help.
In order to take the measurements, ideally use a tape measure. If you don't have a tape measure use a piece of string, ribbon or belt to get the measurement and then carefully measure that with a ruler. We suggest you take at least two measurements for each to verify that you've got the right number. If you are not using a tape measure, take at least 3 measurements and ensure they are all very similar so you are confident you have the right measurement.
(App)arel is a base layer garment. You should measure yourself without a clothing layer under the tape measure (except where guided otherwise below).
When taking the measurements stand naturally, don't breathe in our out in an exaggerated way. Don't pull the tape too tight; it should have no slack but not be squeezing your body so that the measurement is smaller than it normally would be.
Planning to lose weight? Please let us know when we reach out to you to confirm measurements if you are planning weight loss in the time frame you expect to take delivery and we will work with you to try to ensure a good (app)arel fit.
Refer to the diagrams below in conjunction with the following:
1. CHEST/BUST ⓵
Men: measure the circumference of the chest by running a flexible tape measure across the fullest area of your chest holding the tape measure horizontally.
Women: we suggest that if you normally wear a sports bra while working out that you wear it for taking this measurement. Measure the circumference of the bust by running a flexible tape measure across the fullest area of your bust holding the tape measure horizontally.
2. WAIST ⓶
Measure around the narrowest part of the waist, holding the tape measure horizontally.
For the third size shape (see diagrams below): measure your waist where your waist band normally sits when you wear pants with elastic waist bands.
3. HIP ⓷
Stand with your feet slightly apart and measure around the fullest part of the hips, holding the tape measure horizontally.
For the third size shape: Measure your hips at the widest part of your hips, below where you've taken the waist measurement.
4. WRIST
Measure around the wrist at its narrowest part near the transition from the hand to the forearm. If your wrists are different sizes, use the smallest measurement.
Choose your body shape for guidance on where to measure:
Women:
Men:
If you are borderline between two sizes use the smaller size.
Pants size:
If there is a discrepancy between sizes choose the size that matches the waist measurement.
Shirt size:
If there is a discrepancy between sizes choose the size that matches the chest measurement.
Example:
Man with measurements: Chest: 41", Waist: 36", Hip: 41", Wrist: 7". This is a mixture of L and XL. The chest measurement is XL so the Shirt will be XL. The waist measurement is L so the Pants will be size L.
