The asensei app has an extensive library of workouts and programs and asensei will always recommend you a workout whenever you open the app - but if you want to do something different or to quickly search for and find a different workout then read on and we'll explain how you can do that.
Search for a workout in the asensei app
The asensei app has a workout search feature built in. To get started choose the PROGRAMS option from the main menu in the top right hand corner (on older apps hit the Hey asensei [+] button on the bottom left of the Up Next recommendation screen, choose Workouts). Then hit the magnifying glass Search icon in the top left of the screen that appears. You can see this highlighted in the image below, and you can also see the FIND WORKOUTS screen that appears.
Filtering Workout Searches in asensei app
Now that you are on the FIND WORKOUTS screen in the asensei app you will want to make use of the filters that are available. You have three options, filter by Duration, Coach or search the description/titles of the workouts using the text search box. You can use a combination of these three options to refine the search further.
Workout Duration Search in asensei app
Using the Workout Duration filter on the FIND WORKOUTS screen you can choose to search by workouts that are Less than a specified duration, more than a duration or Any duration (the default).
To make a selection tap the "Any" box to the right of the Duration text in order to refine your duration.
So if you are looking for workout of less than 30 minutes because you are in a hurry, choose Less than, then 30 minutes.
The duration that the app uses is the total duration of the workout, so this will include titles, warmups rests and cooldowns. It's designed to allow you to find a workout that you can complete in the time you have available.
Search for workouts by Coach in the asensei app
In the Coach filter on the FIND WORKOUTS screen you can choose to search by workouts that are performed by a particular coach.
To make a selection tap the selection box to the right of the Coach text (by default this will say "Any"). You'll be presented with a screen allowing you to choose from a range of coaches such as Eric Murray, British Rowing, Johan Quie, Shane Farmer or asensei.
So if you are looking for workouts performed by Johan Quie you would simply tap on his name, then tap the < FIND WORKOUTS text in the top left to return to the search menu, where you can hit Search to execute the search.
Free text workout search In the asensei app
If you want to find a workout with a particular name, or with a particular word in its title or description then use the free text search option on the FIND WORKOUT screen. Enter the word or words you are interested in and hit search.
For example if you want to find workouts with stroke ladders then you might enter "ladder" into the search box.
The free text search is great for finding a workout you've heard someone mention, but you don't know which program it's in. For example to find STROKE THE FIRE you might type in the whole name which will return a list of workouts with those words in it, with the one you are looking for likely to be top of the list, or you can just use the word Fire and it will also return that workout.
Combine search options in the asensei app
It's possible to refine your search by using multiple filters.
You might look for "ladders" in the search text box, then choose "Johan Quie" as the coach and set the duration to be "at least 30 minutes" if you want a ladder workout with coach Johan that lasts at least 30 minutes.
