The Rogue Echo Rower comes with a console which can be updated from time to time with improvements and bug fixes. This is known as updating the firmware and for the Rogue Rowing Machine you need to use the Rogue app to update the firmware.
If you are experiencing issues using your Rogue Rower with the asensei rowing app then we would strongly recommend that one of the first things you try is to update the Rogue Firmware (and by the same logic ensure you are on the latest version of the asensei rowing app).
Rogue Echo Rower Firmware Update Instructions
To update the firmware on your Rogue Echo Rower please follow these instructions:
- Download the Rogue App from the Apple App Store.
- Rogue App: Sign In or continue as a Guest
- Rogue App: Open the Rogue App and navigate to "More" in the bottom right corner.
- Rogue App: From the navigation menu at the foot of the screen choose More > Rogue Device Manager. The app will start to scan for devices automatically.
- Echo Rower: Power On the rower by pressing and holding the "Home" button or by pulling on the handle.
- Echo Rower: Select "Connect" on the rower monitor to allow it to connect to the app.
- Rogue App: Select Rower by choosing your rower from the list of connected devices. If you have multiple rowers, ensure the Console IDs match.
- Rogue App: If a firmware update is available, you'll see an "Update" option. Select it to start the update process. Do take care and don't move your phone away during the update process.
- Echo Rower: The Rower Monitor (console) will reboot during the update. The update progress will be displayed on the app.
- Verification: Once the update is complete, the monitor will reboot. You can verify the new firmware version by going to "More Options" -> "Information" -> "Product ID".
For more information about Firmware releases see the Rogue Echo software page. At the time of writing the latest Rogue Echo Firmware version is 1.0.45, but this may change.
Why Should I Update the Rogue Echo Rower Firmware?
Firmware updates are important to ensure that your Rogue Echo Rower works as expected. Typically firmware updates will add bug fixes and improvements. This is particularly true with new devices which will tend to have more issues than more established ones as teething problems are worked out.
What is Firmware?
Firmware is basically software that is stored locally and 'semi-permanently' on the device to make it operate as expected - it controls the behaviour of the device. Most of the time you don't need to do anything with it, it just works in the background, but from time to time manufacturers make updates to fix bugs or add new features.
