Yes! asensei can automatically sync your workout to the Concept 2 Logbook. From there you are also able to link to Strava, Fitbit, Garmin and more.
How do I setup asensei to connect to the Concept 2 Logbook?
From the Up Next conversation screen, choose the MY ASENSEI option from the main menu in the top right (on older app versions hit the Hey asensei [+] button in the bottom left, then choose My asensei). On the screen that pops up there's an item titled Concept 2 Logbook, if you tap that you'll be taken to the Logbook screen where you should toggle the switch labelled Concept2 Logbook so that it is green and to the right hand side. You'll then be prompted to enter your Concept 2 logbook credentials and after that you must hit the green Approve asensei button that appears to link your accounts.
On the My asensei>Concept 2 Logbook screen you can also set your Weight Class. This is either Lightweight or Heavyweight and this ensures that your Logbook entry is categorised correctly.
The official definition of Lightweight and Heavyweight from Concept 2 match up with international rowing categories and are as follows:
- Lightweight Women: <= 135lbs (61.5kg)
- Heavyweight Women: > 135 lbs (61.6kg)
- Lightweight Men: <= 165lbs (75kg)
- Heavyweight Men: > 165lbs (75kg)
You can also manually change your weight category via the Concept 2 Logbook website should you ever need to.
What Workouts does asensei sync to the Concept 2 Logbook?
asensei syncs all workouts from the time that you set up the connection to the Concept 2 Logbook onwards. Past workouts are not sent to the logbook. If you wish to add a past workout to the logbook you would have to create a manual entry in the Concept 2 Logbook.
What Data Does asensei share with the Concept 2 Logbook?
asensei automatically shares all the data that the Concept 2 Logbook supports, including an overall summary of the workout, stroke by stroke data and interval data. If there is a warmup in the workout it is captured in the first interval as 'rest rowing', and strokes rowed between active rowing intervals are captured as rest distance and time.
Data types that are shared with the Logbook include: distance, time, strokes rate, stroke count, heart rate, calories per hour, Watts.

How Does asensei structure Concept 2 Logbook Data?
asensei sends workouts as interval workouts to the logbook. In the Logbook it will look as if you had programmed your PM5, but you do not need to do that with asensei, you just need to row. When you row a section of an asensei workout, such as a 3 minute row, we will log that as one interval. The next section might be a 2 minute row and that will be captured as interval 2. The rest in-between will be displayed too. Interval workouts allow us to also capture the rowing that you carry out before, after and in-between sections, so that your total meters are logged into the Logbook (as Rest Distance).
asensei only logs data from when you start the workout, if you row a few meters prior to the start of a workout or after the end this is not captured by asensei and so is not sent to the Concept 2 Logbook. Because of this your PM5 may not match your logbook entry exactly.
asensei Workout Warmups in the Concept 2 Logbook
asensei workouts often include a warmup, but the Logbook data format does not really cater for a warmup being included as part of a workout so we have to make some compromises.
From app version 1.16 (released on 14th Sep 2021) onwards asensei shows the warmup as the rest period associated with a 0m first Logbook interval. This means we still capture the total meters rowed, including the warmup, but the Logbook summary entry is more representative of the active part of the session. So if you performed a workout like Sprint Finish in the (RE)COMMIT program, which is a warmup followed by a 1000m test your summary would look like the one below:
In the session above there is a truncated warmup of 52m, which is associated with a 0m first active interval, then a 3min45s 1000m and then a cooldown of 58m. Your total meters are all captured in the Overall Distance and Overall Time entries, and you can still click into the 1000m to see your stroke by stroke data.
Prior to app release 1.16.0 asensei sent the warmup to the Logbook as interval 1. The advantage of this was that you could see your stroke by stroke data for the warmup. However it also meant that your workout summary in the logbook included the warmup, meaning your average pace for a session typically appears lower since you'll normally row harder during the active part of the workout. This tended to be off-putting for people who like to share their results and felt that the warmup was making these appear slower than they actually were.
How do I disconnect asensei from the Concept 2 Logbook?
If for any reason you wish to stop your workouts synching from asensei to the Concept 2 Logbook, then you can just toggle the switch labelled Concept2 Logbook to off on the My asensei screen.
How Do I view my asensei Results in the Concept 2 Logbook?
When workouts have been sent to the logbook you can view them from without your session history entries. The session history is accessed by hitting the small arrow in the top right of the Up Next conversation screen.
Find the workout of interest and tape the session history entry, this will show the asensei Workout Summary. There will be a button at the end of the workout summary if that workout has a Logbook entry. Tap the button and a pop-up window will show the Concept 2 Logbook entry, you can scroll down to see the details of the workout such as stroke by stroke graphs for each interval.
