We have added Heart Rate Monitor (HRMs) support to the asensei app from version 1.7.0. You can either connect your Heart Rate Monitor to the rowing machine monitor or via the Health App on your iPhone.
Once you have connected your HRM (see below for instructions) you can start your workout and while you are rowing your heart rate will automatically be displayed on screen as an extra item on the Head Up Display. Your heart rate will be logged into the Concept 2 logbook if you have connected to the Logbook.
Connect Heart Rate Monitor via Concept 2 PM5
Before you start your workout, turn on the PM5, choose More Options then Connect Heart Rate. Your HRM should appear on the screen, if it doesn't, make sure it is turned on, has battery power and wait a few seconds to be discovered.
When your belt appears select it and then press Confirm Selection and then press Menu to return to the Main Menu of the PM5 and you should see a Heart Displayed at the top of the PM5 screen.
For more details, troubleshooting or equipment supported see Concept 2's guide to connecting to a heart rate monitor. Note asensei only supports the PM5, not the PM4 or PM3.
Connect Heart Rate Monitor via Apple Health App on iPhone
To setup the heart rate sensor in Apple Health on iOS, follow these steps:
Make sure the your HRM is powered on and connected to your iPhone.
If you haven't connected it before you should navigate to the Bluetooth page in your phone’s settings menu and look for the HRM in the OTHER DEVICES section - it may take a couple of seconds to appear. Tap on the HRM name to initiate the connection ("pairing") and it should appear in the MY DEVICES list. A loading spinner will appear next to it and when the connection is successful the word Connected will appear.
If you have connected your HRM before you should see it in the Bluetooth page in your phone’s settings menu and look for the HRM in the MY DEVICES section and check that it has Connected next to it.
Open the Apple Health app. If you hit browse at the bottom of the screen and choose Heart from the Health Categories list you should see your heart rate displayed at the top of that screen.
To Connect Heart Rate Monitor via WaterRower S4 Monitor
When you connect a heart rate monitor to your S4 monitor asensei will receive the data automatically via the Bluetooth ComModule and it will display during your workout on the HUD.
